Who We Are Looking For

The instruments of a continent's story.

Master performers — Djembe, Talking Drum, Udu

West Africa

Djembe

The voice of the village, the heartbeat of ceremony. Masters of the djembe carry centuries of Mande tradition in every strike.

Yoruba · Nigeria

Gangan

The talking drum. A communicator before language had letters — gangan performers speak in tones that transcend linguistic barriers.

Yoruba · Nigeria

Bata

Sacred drums of the Orisha tradition, played in sets of three. The bata carries a spiritual authority earned over centuries of ritual ceremony.

Senegambia · West Africa

Sabar

The communal drum of Senegal and the Gambia. Sabar players communicate with the body as much as with their hands, merging dance and rhythm into one.
